Oyakocha, written as 親子茶, means literally “parent & child tea”. It is made from a harvesting of the tea field between the first flush and the second flush about 6 weeks later. Late appearing leaf buds from the first flush (the children) and the larger base leaves (the parents) form the contents of this tea.
